Vibrant Colors, New Typography, and a Nod to Heritage
Walmart’s new design refresh embraces brighter, bolder colors: True Blue and Spark Yellow, creating a vibrant and welcoming tone. The spark icon, first introduced in 2008, now takes on a larger role, standing apart from the Walmart name to become an instantly recognizable symbol—much like Target’s bullseye or Amazon’s smile.
The updated wordmark adds a nostalgic yet modern twist, inspired by a trucker hat frequently worn by Walmart founder Sam Walton. The typography, dubbed Everyday Sans, is a custom adaptation of the Antique Olive font. “This typeface ties our past to the future,” Hartman shared, emphasizing its role as a bridge between heritage and innovation.
